Our esteemed guest speaker of the evening Mr. Billa Bhandari, a Strategy and Startups Consultant is currently the CIO and the Chief Strategy Officer at AIR4Ed, Inc., a Consultant in IT Strategy and Business Development at Institute of Life Sciences and and an Advisor at Gabriela Pallares. He was also the Founder & Chairman of GoSecure Inc. from September 2007 to December 2012. His credentials also include being the Founder& CEO of Akoura Biometrics Inc. He also served as the CEO of Parallax Corporation for 3 years. He was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the United State Secret Services in July 2006.
The proceedings of the lecture included an overview of the process that goes in becoming an entrepreneur and starting a new venture, especially in Dubai. Mr. Bhandari enlisted the various stages encountered while starting one’s own business which included innovation, memorializing, team, governance, bootstrap, prototype, flagship customer, proof of concept, revised offering, generating a revenue stream, exit strategy, venture capital, global launch, public offering and finally an overall sustained growth. He encouraged the students to think different and ahead of time, in order to make it big in the corporate world. He advised the students to first identify a product or service which doesn’t already exist and find its potential market before starting a venture and lay emphasis on I (ideas), R (Resources) and P (People). In order to start a business in UAE, he explained the importance of collaborating with the right local partner who should be well-established and successful in making a difference to your project by giving credibility and good investment. He pointed out that Healthcare was one of the largest upcoming sectors in UAE and held great potential for growth. Mr. Bhandari also shed light on the Expo 2020 and its significance in creating a stable economy for Dubai.
