SP Jain School of Global Management organized a day long Business Competition – “Apex- Aspire, Perform, Endure, Excel” on 13th November 2014 at their Dubai campus. Students from various management colleges in Dubai competed in the 4 major events namely Business Leader, Consulting Wars, Beg Borrow Steal, and Money Matters.
All events focused on leadership, marketing and presentation skills wherein all participants faced grilling tests and challenges in a business environment and the ones with combined attributes of confidence, team management and quick decision making, emerged winners. Students from IMT Dubai overwhelmed the organizers with their enthusiastic participation in great numbers in all 4 events.
The “Business Leader” competition aimed to identify an individual with good leadership skills and tested the participants on parameters of communication skills, creativity and spontaneity. Varun Sharma, an IMT DCP Batch student, emerged as the second runner up and was much appreciated by the judges.
The “Consulting Wars” event made the participants apply their theoretical business concepts to a real life problem and then present the solution thus displaying their creativity, acumen and the presentation skills. The team from IMT DCP Batch comprising Konda Moulika, Sanchita Sharma and Sukant Chaturvedi, was declared winner.
“Beg Borrow Steal” was the mega marketing event and a platform for students to showcase their best marketing skills and innovative ideas. The participants were required to come up with an innovative product and pitch it to the investors to gain an initial investment for the development of a prototype. The actual working prototype was launched with the teams explaining its utility, the target market segment and proposed marketing strategy. A team of 5 IMT DCP students comprising of Suhas R Menon, Richa Agrawal, Tanay Singh Rawat, Avyashree Singh and Niharika Agrahari impressed the judges with their prototype – “Port-a-feeder” and were declared winners. Yet another team of students from IMT DCP were announced second runners up with their innovative prototype.
“Money Matters” was another exciting event which focused on the financial aspects of business and required a team of portfolio managers to deal with the given scenario. This event also attracted spirited participation from the budding financial experts from all colleges.
